FAQ

Questions we hear before most jobs.

Installation, care & options

How long does installation take?

It depends on the size of the floor, how much preparation and repair the slab needs, the coating system, and the temperature during the install. Your estimate will include the expected schedule for your project.

How long before I can walk on the floor?

Foot traffic is usually allowed well before vehicles, but the exact time depends on the products used and the conditions on install day. We give you specific walk-on and return-to-use times before we leave.

When can vehicles park on it?

Vehicles need the coating to reach a fuller cure than foot traffic does. The wait varies by system and temperature, and we confirm it for your floor at the end of the install. Parking too early is one of the most common causes of tire marks and lifting.

What is the difference between epoxy and polyaspartic?

Both are coatings used in floor systems, and many systems use both. Epoxy is widely used as a base coat because it builds thickness and bonds well to prepared concrete, but it can amber with prolonged sun exposure. Polyaspartic coatings typically cure faster and resist UV yellowing, which makes them common as topcoats. We recommend the combination that fits your space.

Do you grind the concrete before coating it?

Yes. Mechanical preparation is part of every Everfield floor. Grinding removes the weak top layer, old sealers, and contamination, and opens the surface so the coating can bond. It is the step most often skipped on cheaper installs, and the most common reason those floors fail.

Can you coat cracked concrete?

In most cases, yes. Cracks are cleaned out, filled, and ground flush as part of preparation. Some cracks — especially ones that are still moving — can show again over time, and we will tell you plainly if we see that risk during the inspection.

Can you coat an existing painted garage floor?

Not on top of it. Paint and failing coatings need to be removed so the new system bonds to the concrete itself. Removal is part of the preparation and is included in your estimate.

Are coated floors slippery?

A smooth, high-gloss coating can be slick when wet, like most smooth hard surfaces. Flake and quartz systems add texture, and anti-slip aggregate can be added to the topcoat where traction matters. We will talk through the trade-off between grip and ease of cleaning.

How do I clean the floor?

Regular sweeping or dust-mopping, plus occasional mopping with a pH-neutral cleaner, handles most floors. Clean up oil and chemical spills promptly. We give you care instructions for your specific system.

Can I choose custom colors?

Yes. Flake blends, solid colors, and metallic pigments come in a wide range, and we help you narrow the options based on the space, lighting, and how much you want the floor to hide.

Can metallic floors be customized?

Metallic floors are custom by nature — color, movement, and the amount of veining or depth are shaped during the pour. We talk through references and the look you want before installation.

Do you install commercial floors?

Yes. We install floors for shops, warehouses, retail, showrooms, and other commercial spaces, with the system and schedule planned around how the business operates.

Ready to finish the floor?

Tell us about your space and the finish you’re considering. We’ll help determine the right coating system for the project.
